September still... ice skating

Thats right, subtropical Okinawa, the Hawaii of Japan, has an indoor ice skating rink. One.

So we went, and the kids had a blast. Coryn was kind of scared, who likes that slippy feeling when you're used to walking normal?

Carter had a blast, he swung between us, and purposely slid his feet every which way for the heck of it. Check out those gloves!

But they had the most fun getting pushed around in the skating rental cars!

Of course we had to warm up with some ramen and cocoa, Carter refused to have his gloves on at this point.
Coryn's getting really good at chopsticks. I think he'll miss those at the restaurants.

Carter likes getting fed like a bird.

It was a very tiring day...

Cut and Curry

Durn hippie needed a hair cut,

Carter waited somewhat patiently.

Went to Krishna's with a friend for Indian curry, good stuff! Carter loved it.
Coryn got to play a girly video game which you watch barbie-esque teens sing and dance while you push buttons to the tune. It was the only working game in the area.

Mmm... Mango... You Wanta Da Mango... yes, they bag their mangos before they fall off the tree, no need for constant vigil to catch them at peak ripeness :)

Things I've Made & Mmmm

Mmmm... best shaved ice I have ever had! it was a block of ice with strawberries frozen into it, which was shaved so finely that it melted like powdered sugar in the mouth and it was drizzled with condensed milk and what I'm assuming is a simple syrup but I didn't ask about that one, I asked about the milk to make sure it wasn't mayo (it really wouldn't surprise me if it had been). Fantastic!!!
Here is the kokeshi doll I made... parts I like, parts could use some work... for instance, I like my hair except that I realized the style didn't make sense because it looks pulled back but there's no bun or anything.

At long last, the results of my first pottery class... well, some of them, the other two I didn't really feel were worthy of photographing. (not entirely my fault, the glazes came out weird)
Here is the unfinished jar I've been working on this month... we'll be glazing it this week and should see the results next week.

A Little Bit of This...

Have I ever told you that I love the Japanese bakeries? freshly made bread everywhere! its a good thing I read some Japanese, this one is called "bitter chocolate donut" which was a chocolate pudding filled chocolate dipped chocolate donut... in honor of White Day.
Carter recently woke up as a little rascal... shoot, now I can't remember his name!

knee pad man! or protection man? no, that doesn't sound right.

Isn't the air hockey cute? Every mall has an arcade section including its own toddler climbing area, some of the games are cute and short!

Loving the bath and the crazy hair!

It's a Good Time for the Great Taste

Well, I have now sampled McDonalds fine cuisine in yet another part of this blue marble we call earth, first North America followed by South America, then Japan and now the middle east. Kuwait to be specific and for the record I could taste something different but i couldn't quite tell what with the Big Mac I ate. It wasn't bad, it was just different. Something seemed off with the fries too. Japan still has the best Micky D's food in the world but then again, it's Japan and I expected nothing different.

I am in love with a McDonald's girl
She has a smile of innocence so tender and warm
