Sledding

Its been a very warm winter for the North Country, but we did have a couple of opportunities to play in the snow. Not long after we got home from Boise there was a good snow storm that gave us enough to go sledding. This is the second year of sledding fun for the boys, and they do love it. They even haul their sleds up the hill without complaint for an hour and a half just to do it!












































and yes, Jovey got in on it too, she got to go down half the hill a couple of times on this inflatable sled with back support, it was awesome. She only fell out once, and that was while I was pulling her towards the hill from the car. Didn't phase her.

First Snow

Snow has been slim to none this year (I mean, more than Boise gets but still...), late to come and early to leave. Last winter the first real snow was on Halloween, this winter it was just before Thanksgiving.

SNOW

yeah... haven't updated the blog for a bit because I've been too busy moving, caring for children, and constantly digging us out! Snow snow and more snow... if anyone sings me the "Let it Snow" song I might have to punch you!
The kids are really enjoying the odd amounts of time they do get outside, loooooove sledding.

They also really like playing with the flags in our backyard housing had to put up to notate areas that can't be dug.






Jovey doesn't get to enjoy it yet, but I'm sure she will next year. She is cooing up a storm when she's awake these days, with the odd smile (usually preceding massive bowel action).







She also really enjoys sleeping in seemingly uncomfortable positions...














and playing with Coryn (who adores her).

Its Beginning to look a lot like....

Snow. First snow of the year was on Halloween, second snow was my birthday, and then last week we got our third, and largest, snowfall so far. The weather guys are forecasting a twice than average snowfall for December... brr...







Out they went, spent over an hour moving and playing in the snow. So glad dad was home to help, since I still can't put on shoes and my big belly is making it hard to wear much of anything.









The kids had their first Santa visit a couple weeks ago (who happened to be a friend of ours from Virginia who also got assigned up here).




The kids are enjoying snuggling on the couch with a blanket and a lego advertisement...





and Coryn decided to pretend to be me for a while.

Snow part 2

Here's our house... its pretty cute. Most of Virginia has screened in back porches, no garages, and columns... ok the columns are on all the baptist churches and the really old houses, but its still a crazy amount.

The neighbors are fantastic, they all somehow knew we were moving in, and the day after they didn't see a moving truck, they started asking what we needed, and ended up letting us borrow old snowsuits and shoes among other things... I can't believe we spent two weeks without anything but our suitcases and a few borrowed things.

The neighbors also have kids slightly older than Coryn which is why we were able to borrow the clothing. They also had fun things like sleds, and snow shovels to make a smooth surface on the driveway...

And of course, we wouldn't be able to finish the day without making a snowman.

Snow Snow Snow

After living in the subtropics for three years, this is Carter's first snow :) We couldn't stay out too long, no snow suits, no snow shoes, only knit gloves... but they did enjoy it.

So Much Between Now and Then

Well, its been almost two months since the last post and a lot has happened. For those of you who don't know we've moved to Okinawa (Japan) and we made it here without much difficulty. However, tales of Okinawa will wait until the next blog; this will just catch us up through December....
First of all, Coryn got his first hair cut, and it went as well as could be expected, a little crying, a little worried looks, but no outright screaming fits.
See, nice and clean.
This is the balloon he got afterward, it followed him around for a while and he sat on it a couple of times, well squatted anyway.

This is Coryn's first real snow experience, and perhaps his last for some time, but at least he got to build a snowman. Ok, I built the snowman, but he watched...
