Jovey's 4th!

Jovey got a year older, and started the day with a walk to A&W for lunch (we found a short cut across the highway too!)  Good fries, good beer. Did you know that they do waffles in Thailand?  with ice cream?
Then we headed to the mall for some fun, and happened across a roving performance group of kids show or mascots.  No idea what they are, but Jovey tells me "hehe, they are people in costumes!"
Then Jovey got to choose between bowling and ice skating, because thats what malls have here, and because theater in the mall didn't have any kids shows at the time.
She had an awesome time and only got bored and started running around at the 7th frame because she had to use the bathroom.  Finished a whole game.  Jackson got several strikes (though I got the first), and the boys started bowling in normal styling.
Then Jovey got to pick out a cake at the cake store in the mall (we chose at random where to purchase from, went with S&P, not getting a butter cake again... they really mean butter, with a basically straight up butter frosting, salted butter) and chose Doraemon.
and finished with her present, a Hello Kitty home with furnishings and Hello Kitty and her mom.  "Just like the one I saw in the store mom!"

Jovey's First Birthday

Happy First Birthday Jovey!! The day after we landed in Boise we threw an impromptu party for the babe, Chuck-O-Rama, presents, family, it worked out great! (especially considering it was decided about 3 hours beforehand that we would do it)

She had tons of fun pulling the tissue out...

and thoroughly enjoyed wearing the bow, she kept handing it to me so I would put it on her head.

Favorite present, glow worm!

Carter B-Day 3

Everytime we asked him what he wanted for his birthday he said "Mickey Mouse clubhouse cake!" so I made Toodles and found some cardboard cutouts of the crew.

Yeah, he loved it... though he kept asking me if he could help make the cake. he loves to 'mix'

Have to concentrate to make sure the right number of fingers are up...

got a big western set and they've been shooting it up ever since. that and making the horses fly with their tails.

Don't know what they're all looking at on the computer, but zoooooooooooone.

November birthdays

November started out busy, parties to plan, social gatherings to host, keeping busy while dad was gone at training. Of course, it got a lot less busy on the afternoon of my birthday... I fell down the stairs and broke my big toe, that combined with my being 8 months pregnant and I was laid up for a couple weeks and Jackson was sent home early to help out. Glad he was, it probably saved me from preterm labor.
Coryn's birthday was extra special since dad was able to be there, and he got about a gajillion legos that he got to build himself...

last year he gave us a list for what he was going to have on his cakes for the next five years... and though I don't remember exactly what order he put everything in, I'm pretty sure he did, and requested a Harry Potter cake. so I got the crazy idea to build a lego thing to put on the cake (not sure I'm talented enough for drawing HP in icing).
It was a huge hit!

The next day Coryn got to go get a hair cut. Lucky boy :D

October birthday...

For Jackson's b-day we went to Canada. Started off with a fall foliage train ride, pretty awesome... pretty and the kids loved riding the train.

Next day we went for a walk all around Ottawa, capital of Canada, it seems like a very nice place. This made our fourth world capital within the last year we were able to visit... China, Japan, US, and Canada. Its crazy where you end up when you travel in the military! Of course, we also happened to visit Canada during their thanksgiving, which apparently they celebrate much like America does.
There are tons of statues around the parliament building, founders, recognition of important events, etc. This was the kids' favorite... I'm sure it has nothing to do with the sword.

It was a long walk and involved a stop at the museum of natural history. Tons of cool stuff there.

#2 is 2!

Totoro! All he asked for for his birthday was cake and the birthday song... I elaborated a little.

He chose the 'cake' that Totoro was holding, and proceeded to tear the bottom half off (too much cake, so little frosting) and pick the sprinkles off to eat one by one.

Presents!

Loves dinosaurs, thanks to Dinosaur Train on PBS, carries them around all the time.

Birthday Time!

Coryn got to celebrate all day long on his birthday... starting with donuts for breakfast at the cabins. Followed by a party at school where he had pizza and cupcakes, and he got to sit at the end of the table with his best friends sitting next to him.
Here are his teachers.

Presents from school were opened afterward, he's hamming it up Japanese style.

Then he got to play in the bouncy while we waited for people to show up to the non-school party. It was a perfect day for it too... rain in the morning, brief sun, rain in the afternoon, cleared up just in time for the water to mostly dry and stay partly cloudy the rest of the evening.

This was the immediate favorite for all, playschool medical helicoptor.
